Hemp. More than 20 years ago, I came to know it by visiting ethnic minorities in the still-closed chinese provinces. Now, we salvage vintage bedsheets and rolls of hemp fabric, which were crafted over 50 years ago in the hilly regions of italy. Hemp is eco-friendly, very sturdy and it even has anti-bacterial qualities. It can be washed at low temperatures, thus saving a lot of energy and water:  by also using eco-compatible soaps, it is easy to see how environmentally friendly a material it is.

The fiber of the fabric is obtained from the hemp plant, which is extremely resilient, it prevents soil erosion, gives a lot of oxygen and can be grown without using pesticides and other chemical compounds. The hemp fabric has been used, historically, for multiple tasks, and it is the one on which the most beautiful works of art have been painted. Even paper was made out of hemp. To us, it is the symbol of our ArteAddosso.
